PLASMA TV
A plasma TV consists of an emissive flat panel display where the light is created by phosphors which get excited by plasma discharge between the flat panels of glass.
The gas discharge consists of a mixture of xenon and neon (noble gases) which are inert not harmful.
It was invented by Donald L. Bitzer & H. Gene Slottow at University of Illinois in 1964 for PLATO computer system.

Plasma TV's are available in bigger sizes. You can buy a Plasma TV which is up to 60 inches in size. LCD TV's are generally available only up to a size of 40 inches. With respect to prices LCD TV's are costlier as compared to Plasma TV's.
LIFE SPAN
The life span of LCD TV's is greater as compared to Plasma TV's. LCD TV's can last up to 60,000 hours as compared to Plasma TV's which can last for 30,000 hours.
CONSUMPTION OF POWER
LCD TV consume less power as compared to Plasma TV. The power consumption is 30 % less as compared to Plasma TV.
VIEWING ANGLE
Plasma TV provides a better viewing angle as compared to LCD TV. There is no loss of image in a Plasma TV.
RESPONSE TIME
If you are more into sports or action flicks Plasma TV would be a better option as fast moving images can be handled efficiently in a Plasm a TV. LCD TV's are prone to blurry images.
BURN IN EFFECT
Plasma TV's are prone to burn in effects where a ghost like image sticks on the screen. It results because of static display over a period of time.
