LCD PROJECTION TV

Projectors are considered to be the focal point of a projection TV system. A small image is formed on a device inside the projector either LCD or CRT and then the image is shined on a large screen which is located somewhere else.

Projectors rely on two approaches:

  • REFLECTIVE PROJECTORS They bounce the light off the element which forms the images.
  • TRANSMITTIVE PROJECTORS
They shine the light through the element which forms images.

In both the projectors the lens collects images from the image forming element, magnifies them and focuses them on the screen. Reflective projectors should not be confused with rear projection. Reflective refers to the opto electronics inside the projector.

Although progressive technologies are making use of reflective approach but transmittive approach has been there for a longer time and can be found in portable projectors available in the market.

Transmittive projectors make use of two image forming elements:

  • CRT
  • LCD
LCD is discussed below:

LCD technology is being used to make projectors lighter and increase their resolution. Transmitted LCD projectors make use of a bright light for illuminating the LCD panel and the lens projects the image formed by the LCD on the screen.

The LCD function as a color slide in a slide projector. The projector can be smaller because of this approach.

FUTURE OF LCD PROJECTION TV

As the LCD technology will advance the projectors will become lighter, smaller and will have better resolutions. It might even become possible to use projection TV's for other applications besides using them for conferences, home theaters and lectures.

One of the possible applications could be virtual reality which would make it possible to get into projected images.

Flat panel LCD are also available in the market .They provide the advantage of digital display precision, are not prone to magnetic picture distortions and you can get the perfect image focus. sometimes tottoos are very harmful. While purchasing a LCD monitor go through it's pros and cons so that you can make a wise choice of the technology.
